My first official ABQ Audition

YAY!!!!! I had my first audition in ABQ. It was interesting, to say the least. But I survived and I learned and connected with some people so it was overall, a good thing!

It was for an open call that was supposed to be 2 separate auditions (one for a Vampire TV pilot, the other for a Game Show host), but ended up combined into one after massive disorganization by the groups hosting the auditions. They both rented the same space for the same times and the casting director was casting both (not at her own choice). The call was at 3PM, but they didn't get started until 4:30 after all the Union people completed their auditions. Shortly after they started rolling with the auditions, there was a high confusion!!!!!!

I started helping the production assistant because there were literally 200+ people for the auditions. Then right before I went in for my "first" audition for the game show host, the casting director came out and decided that the game show casting was off! I was like, "Woah!?!?! They do that!?!?!?!" But they took about 5 minutes to regroup and when I got in, they asked if I was auditioning for both, and they noted my name for the Game Show host and had me read the sides for the Vampire pilot.

I was focused on having my monologue ready, since that's what they asked for the Game Show audition so I only had breifly looked over the sides for the Vampire. As soon as there was word that they were over the Game Show casting, I started looking over it and making some choices. I had a feeling that the pressure wasn't on me to perform since there was such disarray. I arrived at 2:45 and wasn't seen until 5:15. I took the lesson that LeeAnn shared saying that if you don't care and just go with it, the results are better. So when I got in, I decided to go with it. I also found a small group to chat with to keep me warm and energized that were very nice people. I saw some people where the wait was getting to them, I saw others that were stressed. I'd say I was in between. I just wanted to roll with it and stay in my subconscious. It really helped keep me grounded. When I got in, I remembered what notes I had received by the past classes and I think i did a fairly well-done job! I found myself using the inner dialogue, fighting for my objective, and I monitored my teenage angst that has a tendency to come out. I don't think I truly had a place/environment. But I was happy that I made it through.

Amazingly enough, I found my identical twin! She had the nose like me and everything! It was wild! She looked at me, and I looked at her and we both laughed. It was crazy! I wish I could remember her name... It'll come back or I'll run into her again.

I'm really ready to find out what my next audition is. This one was so exciting and I had so many break thrus that I am so happy to take on what may come next! stay tuned... because there will be more!!!!!!!!!
