So I completed my mission with my faux audition. I taped it and it's in the bag. I learned a lot about the way Ivana breaks down the script and really how much really has to be 'personalized' and how much work it can be for a script to be audition-performance ready let alone film worthy. I have down the "technical aspects": communicating to a focal point, allowing myself to find moments, and it was strange trying to work with a recorded monotone voice (For the other person's lines, I recorded them in a monotone and played them as I did my lines). It cut me off randomly on the first take; so since there was enough dialogue to turn it into a monologue, the 2nd and 3rd times i did it that way. I'll have more critques when I get to look at it more in depth.
I went to yoga and the yogi-instructor-guy said a cool quote that gave me some motivation to keep going, especially as i enter this next week with a job (Lame! but i need the money). He complimented us on attending the yoga class and that the hardest part is getting oneself to the class, after that it's a great benefit to oneself to allow a challenge into life rather than choosing something else. In a way, that's what my plan is here in Area 51. The hardest part is truely staying committed to starting the exercises: Choosing a scene, taking the Ivana book to it and making the initial outline to fill out. After that, the ball starts rolling.
Now that i'm starting a "part-time" job that's giving me 35 hrs a week, I'll have to be even more time conscious and follow through with everything else. My inspiration to keep me going is from Julie/Julia. Julie never stopped even when she ended up working late, even if her day sucked, she still cooked. I need to keep that motivation.
Lemme get the number for tomorrow........#6--which means it's a freebie day to take a day off from acting. Ironically it works well since i have an 8 hr shift tomorrow. I'll take time to review my audition, read Ivana, and go from there as far as watching The Goddess so i can compare.
We'll pick up tomorrow!
