Today marks the 19th day that I have fasted from any news reports whatsoever. I'm happier, feeling less stressed and able to focus energy on other more important things. It's really amazing what a difference that makes.
I tried watching NM local news and it was really depressing. All that seems to happen here--based off just watching the news--is murders, thefts, the economy sucks, etc. But I don't wanna focus on that. I don't wanna walk out my door wondering if my dogs are safe or not. So if I don't focus on it, it keeps my subconscious from manifesting situations that can occur to me. and because my energy isn't wasted on that, I can actually complete my acting exercises, keep working on my subconscious connection, and feel safe.
It's kinda funny because I've been driving without the radio on at all, including the 6 hour drive down here. I don't even know what the latest hot songs are or what the economy's doing, nothing. It's been real nice.
I also learned that radio and TV are my escape from having to confront issues that are needing to be handled. I learned this after I met with Vince and had aggravating results from the meeting. I wanted to avoid the fact that I may not be up to par for NM nor LA. So, I turned on the radio, because there's gotta be something on there that is worse than what I'm going through. And after I remembered what my car radio sounded like, I shut it off, thinking in my subconscious that it was something that I couldn't avoid if I want to be an actor. Because I turned it off, I was able to reorganize and plotted my action plan to beat this obstacle.
I challenge you, reading this, to try even 10 days without your radio or TV. It's scary at first, because you don't know what's happening in the world, but back in 1920, did they have to know what was happening all over the world? No. So you can do it too.
I have become obsessed with the Food Channel. And inspired. On top of the TV fasting and to combine the benefits from my Hot Yoga Practice, I've been trying to eat healthier and more in proportion. That means I've been cooking for myself and avoiding eating out as much as possible. I've figured out how to make a much healthier yummier mac-n-cheese than using the Kraft blue box (it's also cheaper!). My dogs and I have been eating scrambled eggs for breakfast. I've been eating fresh fruit and enjoying yogurt. But my cooking skills are very limited; so it hasn't been much variety. However, through watching the Food Channel, I'm ready to take my stove by storm. For my first experiment, French Fries. I didn't know you could make french fries without a deep fryer. After that, I will take the Julie/Julia Challenge with a twist--cooking from the Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book my grandma gave to me.
I'm not gonna stress out over cooking all the recipes, just the ones that seem good to me and I can afford (and stomach....). We'll start with one a week. And maybe I'll check around NM to see if I can find some cooking classes, so I can learn some techniques. Just something to do to be healthy. After all, I'm here to Act and get into Films and TV. If I can sweeten someone's day because I can cook, all the better!
Well, gotta get up in the morning for Yoga, and then Kathy Brinks Workshop. Wooo!!
Again... I challenge you, and please! Post your experience as a comment, I'm interested in hearing what you find by trying to fast from the media...
